To provide a developing apparatus that can process a photosensitive material in an efficient process mode, particularly, in two process modes of a standard developing process and a rapid developing process without changing conventional apparatus structure as much as possible.

The developing apparatus includes a plurality of process tanks charged with a process liquid, an in-liquid conveying unit to convey an exposed photosensitive material, and a control unit including a conveyance control unit to control a conveying speed of a photographic paper and a process liquid temperature control unit to control the temperature of the process liquid through a temperature sensor and a heater provided in the process tanks. The control unit has two modes, that is a standard output control mode to convey a photosensitive material at a standard speed while keeping the process liquid to a standard temperature, and a fast output control mode to convey a photosensitive material at a speed faster than the standard speed while keeping the temperature of the process liquid higher than the standard temperature so as to finish the photosensitive material at a fast speed.
