To provide a developing device and an image forming apparatus suppressing occurrence of an image density unevenness by suppressing occurrence of unevenness in supply of developer to a developer carrier due to deflection in a developer agitating and transporting member.

The developing device is provided with; a photoreceptor 1, a developer container 2 with an opening part formed toward the photoreceptor 1 storing the developer containing toner and carrier, transporting screws 5 and 6 transporting the developer in the developer container 2 to a developing sleeve 3 while agitating it. The distance between the transporting screw 5 and the interior wall 2a of the developer container 2 surrounding the transporting screw 5 in the developing device is shortest at a position where the deflection in the transporting screw 5 is maximum.
