In this developing device, a developer 4 housed in a developing container 3 is carried on a developer carrying body 8, and while a thin layer of the developer is formed by a developer layer regulating member 2 on the developer carrying body 8, the developer is transferred to a developing zone facing a latent image carrying body 1 to develop a latent image on the latent image holding body 1 with the developer to visualize the image. In this method, (1) the developer contains at least a binder resin, a coloring agent and a wax. The binder resin contains a vinyl resin, a polyester resin and a hybrid resin component having a vinyl polymer unit and a polyester unit, and it contains a specified amt. of a component having a compsn. and mol.wt. which can be selectively dissolved in specified plural solvents. (2) The developer carrying body 8 has a resin coating layer 7 of a resin compsn. on a base body 6, and the resin compsn. contains at least a binder resin, elctrically conductive fine particles dispersed in the binder resin, and a nitrogen-contg. heterocyclic compd.
