Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device that can form an image with appropriate density even just after starting using the developing device, and to provide an image forming apparatus having the above developing device.
SOLUTION: Before start of use, a passage between a housing room 34a housing toner and a developing chamber 34a in a developing cartridge 28 is closed by a shutter member 63 while the developing chamber 34b is filled with toner, and the toner filling the chamber is pressed toward a supply roller 33 by a pressure member 68 so that the developing chamber 34b is filled with the toner at a density larger than a loose apparent density. Therefore, as the toner in the developing chamber 34b is sufficiently secured prior to start of use, the toner can be sufficiently supplied to a developing roller 31 even just after start of use. This means a sufficient amount of the toner carried on the developing roller 31 is kept and an image with an appropriate density can be formed.
