To provide a compact developing device including a collecting/stirring/conveying member and a supplied developer stirring member which are vertically disposed beside a developing sleeve so as to circularly convey the developer, and the developer separated from the developing sleeve is prevented from being deposited again on the developing sleeve, accordingly, image density reduction is prevented.
The collection screw 35 is disposed near a developer separation area 9 of the developing sleeve 32. A supply screw 34 is disposed near a pumping area 9 so as to circularly convey the developer between the collection screw 35 and the supply screw 34. A pumping magnetic pole N2 and a developer separation magnetic pole N1 incorporated in the developing sleeve are arranged at a distance. A guiding member 46 for guiding the developer separated from the surface of the developing sleeve to facilitate movement of the developer in a direction to separate from the vicinity of the surface of the developing sleeve is disposed in the developer separation area 9 while separating from the surface of the developing sleeve.
