Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the reproducibility of a linear picture and the picture density and to obtain a high-definition picture by specifying the packing density when an electrostatic latent image is developed with the two-component developer held on a developer carrier.
CONSTITUTION: A two-component developer consisting of toner and carrier supplied on a developing roller 10, is held around the roller by the magnetic force of a magnet contained in the roller 10, conveyed, portioned in fixed amts. by a control blade 11 and brought into contact with the electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive body 12 which is developed in a developing part 13. When the average grain diameter of the toner is 3-5μm, the packing density P.D obtained by the equation is controlled to 40-50. In the equation, M is the amt. in g/cm2 of developer per unit area on the developing roller, ρ is the carrier sp.gr. in g/cm3, and D2 is the distance in cm between the developing roller and the photosensitive body. The packing density P.D is adjusted by setting the distance DB between the roller 10 and the blade 11 and the distance DS between the roller 10 and the photosensitive body 12.
