PURPOSE: To control solvent vapor pressure easily and surely by using a small volume of development tank and to develop and separate the plural number of samples simultaneously by using a small sized developing element, by providing a narrow strip piece of layer of an adsorbent or distributing agent which is bent or curved on the surface of a plate shaped or pillar shaped supporting material.
CONSTITUTION: A thin layer of a developing channel 2 is formed on one side surface of e.g. 5×3cm glass plate 1 by bending an adsorbent or a distributing agent such as silica gel etc. in a narrow strip shape. By forming the bent plural number of developing channels 4 on a supporting material 3 or forming a spiral developing channel 6 on a substrate 5 or forming in a spiral shape at the outer periphery of a pillar shaped supporting material 7 etc., a chromatography developing element having a longer length of the developing channel than a length side of the developing element is prepared. By this way, the developing element with a small quantity of a developing solvent by using a small volume of development tank is obtd. with which a solvent vapor control in the tank is made easily and the plural number of samples is developable simultaneously.
