Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize excellent image quality with respect to a high-resolution original image by setting developing conditions obtained by considering the diffusion of the electric charge of a latent image caused by the surface resistance of a carrier.
SOLUTION: When the capacitance of the carrier is defined as Cp (F/m2), the surface resistance is defined as Rs (Ω), a moving time to a developing finish area from an electrostatic latent image forming area is defined as (t) (sec), the potential of the non-image part of an electrostatic latent image in the image area at an electrostatic latent image forming time is defined as Vo (V), the surface voltage of the carrier obtained when developing is started with the saturation latent image potential of a solid image by a developing member is defined as Vth (V), the desired minimum image width is defined as W (m) and the limit latent image potential V1 (V) of the minimum image width is defined as V1=(0.348Wr2-1.161Wr+1.0163)Vo and Wr=(1/3.63).(Rs.Cp/t)1/2.W, the expression of abs (V1)<abs (Vth) is attained provided that [abs (X)] is set to be the absolute value of X.
