Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a developing roll having such surface roughness as to exhibit high toner conveying power and capable of attaining high image quality of an early image and stabilized image quality during use over a long period of time by forming an elastic body layer having such a low hardness as to stabilize nip and an electrically conductive resin layer bringing toner into a highly electrostatically charged state, and capable of ensuring satisfactory electric conductivity under a very low voltage.
SOLUTION: This developing roll 18 has a shaft 13, an elastic body layer 6 having a rough peripheral surface formed along the periphery of the shaft 13 and an electrically conductive resin layer 17 contg. insulating particles formed on the peripheral surface of the elastic body layer 16 along the rough surface of the layer 16. The hardness (JIS-A) of the elastic body layer 16 is 5-30°, the average particle diameter of the insulating particles contained in the electrically conductive resin layer 17 is 1.0-5.0μm and the surface roughness Ra of this developing roll 18 is 0.7-3.5μm.
