To provide a developing unit capable of improving a printing quality by modifying the rotating structure of a developing roller.
The developing unit comprises: a developing unit frame 122 storing developer: and the developing roller 140 rotatably arranged in the developing frame 122. The developing unit has a coupling means for coupling the developing unit frame 122 and the developing roller 140 together. The coupling means is rotatably mounted in the developing unit frame 122 and includes: a gear member 150 rotated engaging with a first gear on the external part of the developing unit in order to transmit rotation; and a developing roller extremity section 143 disposed at the end of the developing roller 140 and rotated in synchronization with the gear member 150 on the same rotation axis as the gear member 150 in the same rotating direction as the gear member 150. By coupling the developing unit frame and the developing roller together by the use of a coupling means in such a manner, the developing roller can be rotated at a constant speed and a development gap can also be kept constant.
