To provide a development apparatus which is superior in toner- releasing properties on a thin film regulating member and abrasion resistance, reduces reverse charging and can form a stable toner thin film without stripes generated in the toner thin film due to mixing of foreign particles, etc., and also provide an imaging apparatus which uses the development apparatus and can obtain images having high quality and superior in durability.

The one-component system development apparatus is provided with a development roller for moving, holding the toner on a surface and carrying the toner on an image-holding element and the thin-film regulating member for abutting on the development roller through the toner held on the development roller and regulating the thickness of the toner, and visualizes a latent image on the image-holding element by using the toner carried by the development roller. The imaging apparatus is provided with the development apparatus whose thin film regulating member has a surface formed from a material, including polyimide denatured silicon resin, and at least a charging means, exposure means, development means, transfer means, cleaning means, discharge means and electrophotographic photoreceptor, and uses the development apparatus as the development means.
