To provide a development device capable of suppressing defective cleaning and obtaining a high quality image stably for a long term even while suppressing the deterioration of toner-charging ability of a carrier, and to provide an image forming apparatus.
The development device includes: a first carriage member arranged on an opening of a development tank which stores a two-component developer; a second carriage member which faces the first carriage member and faces an electrostatic latent image carrier; a first electric field forming means which forms a first electric field between the first carriage member and the second carriage member and moves toner from the developer retained by the first carriage member to the second carriage member to separate the toner; and a second electric field forming means which forms a second electric field between the second carriage member and the electrostatic latent image carrier and moves the toner retained by the second carriage member to an electrostatic latent image of the electrostatic latent image carrier to visualize the electrostatic latent image, wherein the developer further includes a large-diameter particle A which acts with the toner and a large-diameter particle B which acts with the carrier. The image forming apparatus including the development device is provided.
