PURPOSE: To improve the electrostatic chargeability and the fluidity of a toner by adding a specific amount of hydrophobic silica to a one-component nonmagnetic developer.
CONSTITUTION: 0.3W0.8% hydrophobic silica is added to a one-component nonmagnetic toner T by weight. In case this toner T is stored in a toner storage part 9 of a developing device 2 and a toner supply roll 4 is rotated, the toner T is introduced between a mesh material 6 and the roll 4 and is moved while rubbing against the material 6 and is electrified negatively and is stuck thinnly on the surface of the roll 4 and is carried to a developing roll 3. Since a developing bias is applied to the roll 3, the toner T is attracted to the roll 3, and the quantity of the toner T is controlled to a proper value by a recovery member 5 to develop a latent image on an image carrier 1. A corona charger or the like is made unnecessary because the electrostatic chargeability of the toner T is improved, and the toner T is not flocculated because its fluidity is improved.
