To provide a development method for a wet type electrophotographic image forming apparatus, with which a carrier solution consumed in an image non-formation area is reduced, and image quality is improved.
The development method for the wet type electrophotographic image forming apparatus includes the steps of: forming an image area, according to an electrostatic latent image formed by scanning the surface of the photoreceptor drum electrified to predetermined potential with light; attaching developer to the surface of a developing roller, by applying a first bias voltage to a deposit roller that attaches ink to the surface of the developing roller, and by applying a second bias voltage to the developing roller; and developing the image area on the photoreceptor drum with the use of the developing roller having developer attached thereto. When the non-image area on the photoreceptor drum and the developing roller come into contact with each other, voltages applied to the developing roller and the deposit roller are turned off.
