The processing apparatus includes pairs of squeeze rollers 22a, 22b which press-convey a photosensitive material F and remove excess processing solutions A and also includes liquid vessels 40 capable of storing and discharging a washing liquid W for washing the pairs of squeeze rollers 22a, 22b and liquid feed units 41 for feeding the washing liquid W. The relative locations of the liquid level of the washing liquid W in each liquid vessel 40 and the pairs of squeeze rollers 22a, 22b can be varied, at least one squeeze roller 22a, 22b of the pairs of squeeze rollers 22a, 22b kept in press contact with each other can be optionally immersed in the washing liquid W, and the pairs of squeeze rollers 22a, 22b are rotated in the immersed state.
