Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable deviation detection of a sensor for distance between vehicles by judging that the relation between a detected distance between vehicles and a relative velocity is in a specified range during a specified period.
SOLUTION: For example, when a distance between vehicles is at most 10 m, safe traveling speed is in a range such that the relative velocity is at most 40 km/h. The range increases in proportion to the distance between vehicles, when the distance exceeds 10 m. When the relation between the distance and the relative velocity deviates from the range for safe traveling and enters a region (b), and the time being in the region (b) passes, e.g. at least 2 seconds, the adjustment deviation of a sensor is judged, and a driver or the like is warned. The warning can be issued by appeal to acoustical sense like voices, and appeal to visual sense such as lamp lighting and display. At the same time as warning, the signal of the sensor for distance between vehicles can be stopped, or the control using the sensor can also be stopped.
