To shorten the length of a defective part generated near the joint of a sheet material when the joint passes through a space between squeezing rolls.
This device for adjusting a varnish impregnation amount is composed of a pair of freely reversible rotating squeezing rolls 3 for adjusting a varnish content by squeezing a sheet material 1 impregnated with varnish 2 which continuously travels from below to the above, and a pair of doctor blades 4 for scraping the varnish sticking to the surface of both squeezing rolls 3. Each of the doctor blades 4 is composed of a top blade 4a which can be freely brought into contact with the surface of the upper part side of the squeezing roll 3 and a bottom blade 4b which can be freely brought into contact with the surface of the lower part side of the squeezing roll 3. When both squeezing rolls 3 are reversed, the bottom blade 4b comes into contact with the squeezing roll 3 and at the same time, the top blade 4a is separated from the squeezing roll 3. On the other hand, when both squeezing rolls 3 are rotated forward, the top blade 4a comes into contact with the squeezing roll 3 and at the same time, the bottom blade 4b is separated from the squeezing roll 3.
