PURPOSE: To dispense with cutting off the skirt portion of an upper cutter block, by slightly displacing an upper and a lower cutter holders relatively to the upper and lower cutter blocks and separating the holders from the blocks.
CONSTITUTION: The upper cutter holder 28 is displaced first by a prescribed quantity relatively to the upper cutter block 19. The head of a clamp rod 42 for the upper cutter block 19, which is located in an engaging part 40 of a groove provided on the upper cutter holder 20, is moved to an open part of the groove. The upper cutter block 19 is separated from the upper cutter holder 28 by protracting an overbalance cylinder 21. The lower cutter block 29 is then pulled out of a frame 12 together with the lower cutter holder 30 and the upper cutter holder 28 and placed on a sled 50. The upper cutter holder 28 is removed. The lower cutter holder 30 is horizontally moved to displace the head 54 of another clamp rod 53 to an open part of a groove. The lower cutter holder 30 is removed from the lower cutter block 29.
