PURPOSE: To facilitate the installation of a propulsion coil by providing a clamp device, which is used at the time of laying a ground coil along a track, with clamp claws, of which a clamp space can be enlarged and contracted freely, and guiding the enlarging and contracting movement of the clamp claws along the radial line of a circular part of each corner of a coil.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of taking off a propulsion coil 10, which is laminated inside of a package 46, from the package 46, an elevating frame 14 of a clamp device is hoisted by a crane device, and the coil 10 is held by a clamp device. Namely, a cylinder 32 is operated to set a space between clamp claws 22R, 22L so that each claw 22R, 22L coincides with a clearance 48 of a circular part of each corner of the coil 10 in a packing container 46, and thereafter, the frame 14 is lowered. After stopper rollers 40R, 40L abut on the top surface of the coil 10, the movable clamp 22R is moved to the fixed clamp 22L side by the cylinder 32, and each claw 22R, 22L is positioned on the outside surface of a circular part of each corner. Under this condition, the coil 10 is hoisted, and installed on a predetermined position on the track.
