To automatically clean the window glass of an elevator hall.

An elevator car 11 is provided with a mounting rest 2 provided with a motor 3 and an arm 6. A rotating cleaning brush 8 is mounted on the tip of the arm 6. When a window glass 10 of an elevator hall is detected by an upper sensor 4 or a lower sensor 5, the motor 3 is rotated to project the arm 6 toward the hall and to put the cleaning brush 8 into contact with the window glass 10. The elevator car 11 is operated in this state to clean the window glass. When it is detected that the cleaning brush 8 comes off the window glass 10, the motor 3 is reversely rotated to return the arm to the car side again and to separate the cleaning brush 8 from the window glass 10. The operator can automatically clean the window glass only by operating an operating switch 17.
