PURPOSE: To automatically connect and disconnect a spindle of brush roll at the time of changing work rolls of an aluminum hot rolling mill.

CONSTITUTION: Connectors 1 inside which spline grooves are provided are freely vertically movably inserted into the bases 12 which are fixed to a housing 60 through brackets 11 and supported with supports 6 which are elevated and lowered with air cylinders 8. Spline rods 2 are borne through universal joint with bearing blocks 62 which are fixed to work roll chocks 54 through brackets 10. Adjusting bars 3 having a slope at their tips are fixed on the top surface of the bearing blocks. When upper and lower work rolls 51, work roll chocks, brush rolls 53, etc., are pulled out of the housing, the supports are elevated with the air cylinders, the connectors are clamped between a pair of clamping strips 4 and stayed in the original positions at the time of pulling out the work rolls or the like. The splines are inserted into the connectors which are stayed in the original positions at the time of connecting them.
