To provide a device for controlling brake suitable for a hydraulic drive vehicle for a large size working vehicle providing large braking torque by providing braking torque with using a throttle valve and a variable displacement hydraulic motor, and a control method thereof.

The device for controlling brake of the hydraulic drive vehicle consists of the hydraulic pump, the variable displacement hydraulic motor varying vehicle speed, a motor inclined angle control mechanism varying displacement of the variable displacement hydraulic motor, a hydraulic pipe connecting the hydraulic pump and the hydraulic motor, a speed sensor detecting vehicle speed of the hydraulic drive vehicle, the throttle valve provided in a hydraulic line and generating braking pressure, a relief valve setting maximum brake pressure in the hydraulic line, a pressure sensor detecting brake pressure, and a control means receiving signal from the speed sensor and/or the pressure sensor and outputting command signal for generating a predetermined brake torque to the throttle valve and the motor inclined angle control mechanism.
