To prevent incompatible feeling of a driver even if a vehicle reduces speed due to increase of traveling resistance, in the vehicle equipped with a CVT interlocking engine speed with vehicle speed change when acceleration is requested.
When it is determined that the vehicle speed SPD is in a deceleration state when the acceleration is requested (NO in S228), the lowering of the engine speed interlocking with the change of the vehicle speed SPD(Dnoutcvt) is suppressed (S232, S234), as compared with a case that the vehicle speed SPD is in an acceleration state (YES in the S228). The suppression of the lowering is carried out by making the interlocking dull by decreasing an absolute value of a deceleration state tilting coefficient b (SPD, ACCP) to be smaller than the absolute value of an acceleration state tilting coefficient a (SPD, ACCP). Therefore, the lowering of the engine speed is decreased even if the vehicle speed SPD is in the deceleration state when the acceleration is requested, and vehicle deceleration is not promoted, so that the generation of incompatible feeling of a driver can be prevented.
