Abstract:

PURPOSE: To automatically control the pressure of carbon dioxide being fed relative to the temperature of draft beer stored in a barrel by a method wherein temperature of a second fluid is sensed by a heat-sensitive spring so that a ring fitted on a pipe is axially displaced by virtue of the change of spring constant or shape thereby sliding a valve shaft.

CONSTITUTION: A hollow section is provided in a body 1 of a pressure control device and a pipe 2 is passed through the section, which section is divided into a room A in communication with the atmosphere through a ring 3 and rooms B1-B3. A first fluid flows into the room B3 from an inlet port 9 and flows through a nozzle 7 and is discharged to the outside from an oultet port 10. On the other hand, a second fluid is sent into the pipe 2 and, in the room A, the heat of the fluid is transferred to a heat-sensitive spring 4, so that the spring constant or the shape thereof changes, thereby changing a force pusing a valve shaft 5. If the force has become larger than a force which moves the shaft 5, the shaft 5 is moved to the right side so that the valve is closed and the pressure is controlled, whereby feed pressure is automatically controlled according to the liquid temperature of draft beer to keep the volume of carbon dioxide constant.
