To provide a device for controlling a storage battery of an electric vehicle which decreases the deterioration of performance of a storage battery under a high-temperature condition to prevent a decline in the longevity of the storage battery.
The storage battery controller (10) controls an energy storage amount at the storage battery mounted on the electric vehicle. The storage battery controller (10) includes a storage battery temperature detecting means (14) which detects the temperature of the storage battery or that of the surroundings of the storage battery, an energy storage amount detecting means (12) which detects the volume of power stored in the storage battery, and an energy storage amount reduction control unit (12) which, when the electric vehicle is at a standstill in a given place and the temperature of the storage battery rises to exceed a given temperature to put the storage battery in a high-temperature state, causes a given power device to discharge a prescribed amount of power until a detected energy storage amount decreases to the energy storage amount with which the performance of the storage battery hardly deteriorates, thereby reducing the energy storage amount at the storage battery.
