Title:
DEVICE FOR COOLING MOLTEN METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05237637
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently cool a mold by atomizing water on the mold from water atomizing nozzles and removing vapor boundary film with blasting mechanism so that the following water drops satisfactorily reach the outer surface of the mold.

CONSTITUTION: The preceding water drops atomized from the water atomizing nozzles 27 are vaporized at the same time of sticking on the outer surface of the high temp. mold 9 and form the vapor boundary films 34. At the lower part of the water atomizing nozzle 27, a receiving dish 29 for dripped water drops is arranged and the upper edge of a peripheral wall 30 in the receiving dish 29 is formed in the shape of a saw tooth 31 and the water is uniformly over-flows from the whole periphery. An air channel 32 is arranged below the receiving dish 29 and blowing-up holes 33 are opened around the receiving dish 29 in the air channel 32 so as to below up air from the surroundings of the receiving dish 29. Strong wind containing the water blown up from the blowing-up holes 33 sucks and removes the vapor boundary film 34 at the bottom surface part of the mold 9 and the water drops at the part around the mold 9 are blown off and removed. The removed vapor boundary film 34 and the hot blast of a gas burner 25 are sucked into a suction duct 36 and carried out of the system.
