PURPOSE: To easily eliminate uneven electrostatic charging with high accuracy at low cost by eliminating the uneven electrostatic charging adjusting man-hour of a photosensitive body which is performed for every produced copying machine.
CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal panel 10 of normally black liquid crystal is disposed in opposite to the photosensitive drum 7 electrostatically charged too much at a middle position between a transfer charger and an exposing position. By connecting a reference power source 11 to the transference electrode 10a of the liquid crystal panel 10, a potential difference is given between the drum 7 and the panel 10 so as to change the concentration of the liquid crystal. Preliminary exposure is performed to the drum 7 with light from a lamp 12 through the panel 10 whose concentration is changed, and the potential of the drum 7 is made nearly equal to the reference potential.
