Title:
DEVICE FOR DETECTING DIRECTION AND VELOCITY OF STEERING SHAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH08101228
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain velocity, direction and angle position of a steering shaft of an automobile with a hole effective sensor so as to facilitate the maintenance.

CONSTITUTION: A bearing fitted to a steering shaft 11 is formed of a rolling member 22, which is inserted between two bearing rings of a thin and long inner ring 13 and a thin and long outer ring 14, and the inner ring 13 can be rotated in relation to the outer ring 14. A coder 20 formed of a multi-pole magnet ring is fitted to the inner ring 13, and a disconnectable sensor fitting base having a sensor 17 is fitted to the outer ring 14. When the coder 20 is rotated and passed through the sensor 17, the sensor detects a magnetic field from the coder 20 in the radial direction. Two sensors are provided, and arranged so that the output signal of each sensor has a different phase from each other, and relative position of the two output signal is monitored so as to obtain the direction information.
