Abstract:

PURPOSE: To accurately detect a faulty gas compartment when an internal arc fault occurs in a gas-insulated switchgear having a plurality of gas compartments respectively housing switches by discriminating the gas pressure rise caused by the opening/closing arc of the switch housed in the compartment.

CONSTITUTION: A device for detecting faulty compartment of gas insulated switchgear is provided with gas pressure sensors S11-S14 which respectively detect gas pressures in units 11-14 respectively constituting the gas compartments of a gas-insulated switchgear 1 and pressure rising time detecting sections D11-D14 which detect the gas pressure rising time in the gas compartments from the output signals of the sensors S11-S14. The device is also provided with discriminating sections 71-74 which discriminate one of the gas compartments as a faulty compartment when the gas pressure rising time front the pressure rising time detecting section corresponding to the compartment exceeds the gas pressure rising time caused by the opening/closing of the switch housed in the compartment.
