To provide a location detection device capable of detecting a precise location with a simple constitution.

The location detection device is provided with: electromagnetic conversion elements 3-1, 3-2 arranged in a prescribed surface; magnetic field generation means 1-1, 1-2 arranged opposite to one side of the electromagnetic conversion elements in vertical direction to the prescribed surface and generating the magnetic fields reaching the electromagnetic field conversion elements. Location detection is performed based on the output signals of the electromagnetic conversion elements 3-1, 3-2, when the electromagnetic conversion elements and the magnetic field generation means are relatively moved in X, Y direction parallel to the prescribed surface. The magnetic field generation means are provided with opposing surfaces 2-1, 2-2 inclined to the electromagnetic conversion elements, and the magnetic fields are generated from that surfaces.
