PURPOSE: To provide a device capable of detecting the position of a moving body moving on a traveling way by a simple structure.
CONSTITUTION: A pulse board 12 is provided along a traveling way, and when a crane moves on the traveling way, pulse sensors 16 (16a, 16b) installed in the crane move along the pulse board 12. By counting pulses obtained from pulse sensors, a relative position of the crane can be detected. Further on the traveling way, ID plates 20 are provided at 10m intervals. In each ID plate 20, a correct absolute position on the traveling way is electronically recorded, and this information is taken on electromagnetic waves and transmitted. In the crane, an antenna 22 for receiving the signal from each ID plate 20 is installed, and when the crane crosses each ID plate 20, while moving on the traveling way, the absolute position information thereof can be read without contact.
