To provide a device for determination of start timing of metal powder supply which determines supply timing of the metal powder to synchronize laser beam supply with the metal powder supply without actual machining.
The device 1 for determination of the start timing of the metal powder supply has a powder supply part 10 to supply the metal powder to a padding portion to which a padding welding is applied, an optical sensor 30 to measure timing when copper alloy powder fed from the powder supply part 10 reaches the padding portion in an unirradiated state of the laser beam to be irradiated when the padding welding is executed, and a computer 40 to determine the start timing of the metal powder supply to irradiation of the laser beam at the time of welding based on measured arrival timing.
