Abstract:

To quickly determine, before a driver operates a brake pedal, that the driver is highly likely to perform a sudden brake operation, while avoiding misjudgement.

The operating value of an accelerator pedal is detected by an accelerator operating value sensor S2, and a heel sensor S3 detects whether or not a driver's heel is separated from a vehicle body floor. On condition that the heel sensor S3 detects that the heel has been separated from the vehicle body floor, a determining means 13 determines that the driver is highly likely to perform a sudden brake operation according to the value detected by the accelerator operating value sensor S2.
