To provide a sense of distance close to the real vision being independent of change of the eye-point by providing a monitor, which can be moved in the fore and aft direction, and providing a means for detecting position of monitor and position of eye-point of a driver, and providing an image size control device for automatically changing the dimension of the image on the monitor.

A device for displaying peripheral condition of vehicle is provided with a monitor 2, which can be freely moved in the fore and aft direction, and while provided with a device 3 for detecting position of monitor and position of eye-point, and an image size control device 4. The image size control device 4 automatically changes the dimension of an image on the monitor 2 so that an angle of visibility of an object, which is projected on the monitor 2, and an angle of visibility of the object at the time of realizing the object coincide with each other. With this structure, a desirable object is decided, and the angle of visibility of the object on the monitor is adjusted so as to coincide with the angle of visibility of the real vision, and a sense of distance to the object is grasped.
