PURPOSE: To eliminate time display rather easily from a television picture by storing beforehand a range on the television picture in which a time display signal is included, and generating anew the scanning line information of a time display pattern part from information on the scanning line of a part other than the time display pattern.

CONSTITUTION: Time display position storage devices 104, 105 to store beforehand the range on the television picture in which the time display signal is included are provided, and the scanning line information of the time display pattern part 1 is generated anew by using the information on the scanning line of the part other than the time display pattern part. Thus, by designating the position of the time display signal on the television picture beforehand, the range for which information processing is necessitated is limited, and a circuit becomes simple. Besides since the generation of the scanning line information of the time display pattern part by using the scanning line information of the vicinity of the time display pattern part 1 can be realized if scanning line information storage device 102, 103 and a timing generator are provided, the device becomes inexpensive.
