PURPOSE: To decrease the length of a feed passage between an inlet port and an outlet port for a rapid feed pressure buildup so as to reduce the rate of generation of cavitations by forming the feed passage to have a cross-sectionally reduced region.
CONSTITUTION: A feed pump 3 for feeding fuel from a fuel storage tank to an internal combustion engine has a rotary wheel 21 rotated by an electric motor within a pump chamber 19 and provided with a number of radially outwardly extending vanes on the outer peripheral part of a disc shaped boss part 55. A feed passage 43 partially extending in the form of a ring about the rotational axis of the rotary wheel 21 is formed in chambers walls 17, 23 which limit the pump chamber 19 on end faces. In this case, the feed passage 43 between an inlet port 33 and an outlet port 45 is formed so that a cross- sectionally reduced region III and cross-sectionally large regions II, IV adjacent to the region III are provided therein, thereby achieving a rapid feed pressure buildup.
