PURPOSE: To orient and densely aggregate light reinforcing fibers by dropping a fibrous material having magnetism little by little into a die and applying a mixed magnetic field comprising a DC static magnetic field and an AC alternating magnetic field to give magnetism.
CONSTITUTION: A die (e) is mounted on an iron axis (g) on a lifting means (j). An alumina fiber (b) subjected to electroless Ni plating is dropped little by little to the die (e) through a funnel-like supply means (c) from a sifting means (a). Superposed magnetic fields of a static magnetic field by a DC solenoid (h) and an AC magnetic field by an AC solenoid (d) are applied to give magnetism to the alumina fiber (b) in the die (e). By this method, an oriented aggregate can be produced from the light-weight alumina fiber (b). Further, by impregnating the aggregate with fused metal, a fiber-reinforced composite metal material can be produced.
