PURPOSE: To generate an expressive graphic and to improve the utility of a device by changing a graphic pattern and the gradation of designated color to paint-out the graphic.

CONSTITUTION: A graphic generating device is characterized by providing a pattern designating means 1 designating a direction for painting out the gradation of the desired graphic and the start point pattern and the end point pattern of the gradation of the painting-out direction, a circumscribing rectangle generating means 3 generating the circumscribing rectangle of the desired graphic designated by the pattern designating means, a means 5 painting-out the circumscribing rectangle from a gradation pattern which is obtained by dividing gradation difference between the start pattern and the end pattern of the painting-out direction designated by the pattern designating means by the length of the painting-out direction of the circumscribing rectangular generated by the circumscribing rectangle generating means and a means 7 generating the desired graphic from the AND of the circumscribing rectangle painted-out by the means 5 and the desired graphic designated by the pattern designating means.
