PURPOSE: To decrease the number of lifting arms, lifting cylinders or the like, by selectively connecting the lifting arms to a part and starboard side hatch covers through a coupling mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of lifting arms 14e, 14f provided at the front and rear of a passage 16 located between hatch covers 11aW11b of both sides are selectively coupled to the hatch covers on one or both of the ship sides through lifting cylinders 13e, 13f and cover connectors 17e, 17f. One end of the cylinder 13e is pivoted to a connector 17e by a coupling pin 18 and the other end is connected to the arm 14e. The connector 17e is selectively coupled to cover end panels 15A, 15E by a right and a left lock pin 20a, 20b which are interlocked with the connector 17e in response to the motion of lock cylinders 19a, 19b secured on the cover end panels 15A, 15E.
