PURPOSE: To provide a device for identifying picture data capable of automatically constructing a picture database by using picture data and mask data prepared for printing.
CONSTITUTION: A CPU 1 reads out the picture data and mask data of lighting fixtures to be identified from an HDD 8 to a RAM 4. Then, the read mask data is compared with the feature of the shape basic pattern of each classification stored in a HDD 5 and the similarity rate of shape is calculated for each classification. Since the HDD 6 stores the feature of the color distribution basic pattern of each classification, it is compared with the color distribution of the picture data subjected to the mask processing and the similarity rate is calculated for each classification. Thus, the style and the object of the room most suitable for the lighting fixture are judged based on the similarity rate of the shape and the color distribution and imparted with an identification code.
