PURPOSE: To provide an ignition device in which charcoal or synthetic charcoal can be conveniently, safely and positively ignited with combustion material of paper such as newspaper and the like.

CONSTITUTION: A top plate 2 having many holes at its central part is closely contacted with and mounted on the upper end of a cylindrical main body 1. The lower end of the main body 1 is closed by a bottom plate 4. A plurality of air holes 5 are arranged at a position slightly upper than the lower end of the main body 1. The inner surface of the air holes 5 of the main body is provided with an adjusting plate having the same air holes as the air holes 5 at the same size and same position in such a way that it may be moved from the surface of the main body 1 and further a combustion material receiving block is fixed to a position where the flame of the combustion material reaches within the cylindrical main body 1.
