Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To composite subtitles at an optional position, concerning a video magnifying device provided with a function for magnifying the video of an NTSC system movie, etc., previously extracting the subtitles which will be missed in this case, and compositing it with the magnified video.
SOLUTION: The output signal of a luminance signal/chrominance signal separating circuit 3 is video-magnified by a scanning line number changing circuit 39 and composited with the subtitles which are extracted by a subtitles processing circuit 40 through the use of a switch 10. Also, the subtitles are extracted by the subtitles processing circuit 40 from the output signal of the separating circuit 3. The deterioration of character quality in the subtitles owing to the vertical inversion of a scanning line caused by the movement of the subtitles between different fields is eliminated by arranging an odd- numbered/even-numbered field discriminating circuit 9.
