PURPOSE: To provide a coordinate detecting device and a coordinate detecting method capable of minimizing the influence of a noise or the like at the time of detecting coordinates and detecting a more accurate coordinate value.

CONSTITUTION: The coordinate detecting device constituted of a pen input device 10 using resistor film sheets 1, 2 and an arithmetic means 5 for computing the coordinate value of a pen (3) depressing position from the output of the means 10 is provided with a means 20 for sampling the coordinate value of the pen depressing position plural times and a storage means 30 for storing plural pieces of sampled data.
