PURPOSE: To continuously coil the metallic strip rolled with only one coiling reel without stopping a passing plate.

CONSTITUTION: A flying shear 12 to separate the weld part of a preceding stainless steel strip and a succeeding stainless steel strip as the stainless steel strip 1 is traveled is provided on the outlet side of a tandem type cold rolling mill formed by a first mill 2, a second mill 3 and a third mill 4. The separated preceding stainless steel strip is coiled by a coiling reel 6 at higher speed than that for the succeeding stainless steel strip. The tip of the succeeding stainless steel strip is guided to a guide means 14, and the preceding stainless steel strip is coiled by the coiling reel 6, and coiled by the coiling reel 6 after the preparation for the following coiling is completed.
