Abstract:

To provide a device and method for controlling an automatic transmission, smoothly changing a clutch engagement method according to a change in an accelerator operation or engine speed.

A transmission control unit 100 is provided with a required torque estimating means 120, an input torque estimating means 130, and a clutch control means 140. The clutch control means 140 changes clutch engagement start timing according to the required torque and a size relation between the engine speed and an input shaft rotational speed. Also, the clutch control means 140 changes a parameter for half-clutch control according to the engine speed when the clutch is engaged.
