To suppress occurrence of bleeding or unevenness of ink with respect to an unexpected medium.
Test patterns are set such that at least one of a bleeding condition of the ink in a plurality of adjacent regions having different color hues, and an uneven condition of the ink in a monochrome face can be visually observed. The patterns are arranged on an identical medium by a plurality of different quantities of the ink to form a judgment medium (S701). An adequate quantity of the ink to be ejected is determined by visually confirming the judgment medium (S702). When there is not a color separation table corresponding to the adequate quantity of the ink to be ejected, a new table is formed by using two similar tables (S705). A gamut of the new table is judged (S706), and then a preferable matching table is selected (S707).
