Abstract:

To suppress suspension of premix compression ignition combustion caused by shortage of high antinock fuel or the deterioration in a catalyst due to excess production by supplying a proper quantity of a second fuel of the high antinock fuel required by the internal combustion engine.

On the basis of a detected result of an engine load, an initial set value of a mixing ratio of a second fuel of a high antinock fuel to gasoline of a first fuel is found out and it is determined whether nocking occurs in a mixing ratio reduced by a prescribed ratio from the value. When the nocking does not occur, the mixing ratio is used as it is and when the nocking occurs, the mixing ratio of the second fuel is decreased to the nocking occurrence limit by controlling the mixing value to return to the former one. The consumption rate of the second fuel in the mixing ratio is found out to control the generation rate of the second fuel.
