PURPOSE: To prevent the region other than the region to be irradiated from being damaged by irradiation by controlling the irradiation with electron beam only in a prescribed outline previously determined by a monitoring device and a controller, at the time of melting, vaporizing, etc., a metal by the irradiation with electron beam.
CONSTITUTION: The metallic material 1 is poured in an intermediate ladle 2 after melting it with the electron beam 4 from an electron gun 3 and simultaneously, the front region 5 thereof is heated. The rear region 6 of the molten metal 8 in the intermediate ladle 2 is heated with the electron beam from the electron gun 7 and further, the molten metal poured in a crucible 9 is heated by the irradiation with the electron beam of the electron gun 10 and held to the molten condition. In this device, the accutual position irradiated with the electron beam is detected by an actual positional recognizing device 32 of the electron beam, and when the range other than the irradiation allowable range inputted to memories 21, 41, is irradiated with the electron beam, the irradiation with the electron beam is stopped once, then the irradiation with the electron beam from each electron gun is deflected with control lines 17, 18, from the controller 16 and returned back into the prescribed allowable range to prevent the damage of the intermediate ladle 2, crucible 9 and the neighbor parts by the irradiation with the electron beam.
