To provide a sheet conveying device capable of surely suppressing double feed and non-feed of sheet.
The sheet conveying device 10 elevates a sheet loading base 37 for each time when a predetermined number of sheets is delivered from the sheet loading base 37, and is equipped with a sheet loading base 37, an elevating mechanism 36, a pick roller 39, a defect detection part 21 and a control part 60. The defect detection part 21 detects delivery defect including the double feed and non-feed of the sheet from the sheet loading base 37. The control part 60 selectively executes a correction of a pressure value contacting the uppermost surface with the pick roller 39 when the defect detection part 21 detects the delivery defect of the sheet or a correction of the number of interval sheets to be the number of sheets which delivered from the sheet loading base 37 during the time from the previous elevation timing of the sheet loading base 37 with the elevation mechanism 36 to the next elevation timing.
