Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable and inexpensive device capable of detecting the existence of a recording medium moving along a supply route and measuring its moving speed.
SOLUTION: The device is provided with a roller means 28 capable of moving between a 1st position (A) where the recording medium 31 does not exist in the supply route 22 and a 2nd position (B) where the medium 31 is moving along the route 22. The means 28 is arranged on the 2nd position (B) so as to be rotated by engagement with the medium 31. Pulse generating means 40, 45 provided so as to generate a series of pulses in accordance with the rotation of the roller means 28 and a sensing means 24 indicating no existence of the medium 31 when the means 28 is arranged on the 1st position (A) are arranged together. An electronic control means is arranged so as to determine the speed of the medium 31 when the medium 31 passes along the supply route in response to the pulses generated by the means 40, 46.
